Providing a safe, compassionate space to navigate mental health and personal growth.
Hi! I'm Carly Gershone, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who meets with adolescents and adults ages 12 and up. All of the work we do together comes back to the relationship we have, which is the most important thing to me. In sessions, I incorporate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Brainspotting, mindfulness, and many other modalities to help you explore and to fit your specific needs.
I identify as queer, and I work from a harm reduction, sex positive, trans-allied, feminist, fat acceptance/HAES lens. I am a neurodivergent-affirming provider.
I have a deep love for music, word puzzles, spicy food, being by Lake Superior, and Oreos. In my free time, I read, listen to music, watch too many shows, hang out with my person and my kid, cook/bake, try not to buy more nail polish, and lounge with my aggressively friendly dog. And if you're into such things, my Myers-Briggs type is ENFP.
My very favorite animal... well, honestly, probably it's dogs. But a very close second is the bizarre, awe-inspiring octopus.
The octopus represents wisdom, adaptability, quiet strength, creativity, and problem-solving. I've been a therapist for a long time, and I have consistently seen these qualities in my clients, over and over again.
Also, I don't know about you, but I sometimes feel like an alien on earth. And what is an octopus if not that?
To me, Eight Arms means these qualities and more. It means navigating complex situations together, celebrating our own weirdness and beautiful majesty along the way. Welcome. I'm really glad you're here.
A non-judgmental, comfy, respectful space to talk, to be heard and listened to as the expert on your life, and humor. Sessions are usually 55 minutes long. I always have snacks, fidgets, and coloring/drawing supplies aplenty.
